Festivals offer cultural kaleidoscope

Summer in our city is rich with multicultural flair — as can be seen, tasted and enjoyed at several events coming up.
We’ve got the Mosaic Festival and Brazilian Celebration June 3; Nostalgia: a Concert of Jewish Tango, Dance and Ladino Music June 4; and, at the Beddington Pentecostal Church, the fifth annual African Praise and Worship service and potluck dinner.
Mosaic Festival
The Mosaic Festival, which will be held from noon until 5 p.m. June 3 at Central Memorial Park, is a celebration of both the city’s diversity and the zest of the central neighbourhoods.
“Calgary has a vibrant centre city that is an amazing place to work, learn, shop, live and play,” says Julie Tittemore, festival manager.
Organized by the Victoria Crossing Business Revitalization Zone in conjunction with a range of community groups, the festival will feature two performance stages, more than 40 exhibitors and vendors, artisans, world foods and henna tattooing... read more...
